Let the games begin...

Let the games begin...

"Lets create a magical moment for all to see!" Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said "YES!"

After two years of being in a relationship with my best friend, we have decided to get married and spend our lives making each other as happy as we have done for the past two years.

The first moment I met Matthew I knew that he was going to be in my life, one way or another. After spending hours serving on the bar at work, the cricket boys done shot after shot of 'Jaeger Bombs' and of course I stood and watched them all get more drunk and rowdy as the night went on. Matt didn't make a move that night or even talk to me much to be honest. So I always say I made the first move, by (sorry) adding him on Facebook, after stalking him out through a couple of mutual friends we know through The Jolly Tanners, that's where we met.

As weeks turned into months, I finally got asked to go for a drink with Matt in April 2013 and of course he knew I had already got a son, George. Which didn't seem to be a problem. He knew it was a big commitment. After reassuring him that I didn't expect anything from him and to just see how things pan out we agreed to keep things going and we knew that we are perfect for each other. After all, he keeps me grounded which is what I needed and I keep him from going to bed too early and being too sensible. So we work out perfectly!

Fast forwarding time to the present...

So, he got down on one knee and popped the question after leaving me in huge suspense for a good couple of months. We went to 'look' at engagement rings in Hatton Garden, London in January. He had secretly ordered the ring that we chose together and (because he knew my size from previous) he got it just right. My ring is perfect.

Of course after the engagement we were so happy and told everyone, and then the first question came. From a number of people "Have you set a date?" I never thought that one question would irritate me so much. I thought, I've been engaged for 7 hours and I'm already being asked if I have basically planned my whole wedding day. "ERRRRRR NO"

Well, it's safe to say after nearly three weeks of being engaged, we still do not have a set date. We have looked at a couple of churches and possible reception venues. It's slightly overwhelming how much there is to consider, take note on, get opinions and actually meeting people.

The lovely church where I had George's christening, is 'the one'. We went to look at it again last weekend and the good news is that we have a connection within the parish, which was fantastic news. Next weekend we have our first meeting with Father James at St. Nicholas so I think it's safe to say that after our meeting we can give a definite wedding date.
